Communications Service of the DECR, 10.06.2026.
On 1st June 2026 on the Day of the Holy Spirit, the auxiliary bishop of the Patriarch of Serbia the bishop of Hvosno Aleksej celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Trinity Church, which serves as the metochion of the Russian Orthodox Church in Belgrade.
At the service, which was celebrated in honour of the feast day of the church, concelebrating with bishop Aleksej were: the dean of the metochion archpriest Vitaly Tarasev and clergy of the Serbian Church the rector of the Church of Saint Mark archpriest Branislav Borota, archpriest Nebojša Topolić, archpriest Stefan Nešić, protosyncellus Savva Georgijević, Father Miodrag Nešić, protodeacon Stevan Rapaić and deacon Nikolaj Sapsai.
Among those gathered in the church were representative of the municipal authorities of Belgrade Rade Petrović.
At the conclusion of the Liturgy archpriest Vitaly addressed the archpastor and all those attending the festivities to congratulate them on the occasion of the feast day which heralds the fulfilment of the promise that the Holy Spirit, the third Person of the Holy Spirit, would be revealed to every person and to all of humankind; it is precisely through the action of the Holy Spirit within the Church that what transcends in importance all things occurs, which is to say, the salvation of human souls and, as Saint Seraphim of Sarov said, the acquisition of the Holy Spirit is the aim of a Christian’s earthly life. On behalf of His Holiness the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia he thanked the bishop of Hvosno Aleksej for celebrating the bloodless sacrifice in the church of the metochion.
As a prayerful souvenir of Father Vitaly presented bishop Aleksej with a copy of the icon of the Holy Trinity by Saint Andrei Rublev.
In reply the bishop of Hvosno Aleksej congratulated all those present on the occasion of the feast day and expressed his wish that the Most Holy Trinity would protect both the Russian and Serbian Orthodox peoples and grant to His Holiness the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill strength and further wisdom in his primatial ministry.
After the service a festive meal was held in the hall of the parish house.
