Representatives of Russian Orthodox Church Take Part in Plenary Session of Strategic Vision Group “Russia – Islamic World”

On 15th May 2026, the Strategic Vision Group “Russia – Islamic World” held its plenary session in the Bashir Rameyev IT-Park in Kazan. Its topic was “Shared Values as the Basis for Cooperation and Mutual Understanding between Russia and the Islamic World.”
The meeting took place under the chairmanship of Mr Rustam Minnikhanov, Rais of the Republic Tatarstan, Chairman of the Strategic Vision Group.
Taking part in the meeting were Mr Marat Khusnullin, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia; Mr Miguel Ángel Moratinos, High Representative of the UN Secretary-General for the Alliance of Civilizations, UN Special Envoy; Mr Magomedsalam Magomedov, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Russian President’s Executive Office; Mr Yousef Al-Dubaie, Assistant Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation; and Mr Igor Komarov, Plenipotentiary Envoy of the Russian President to the Volga Federal District.
The Russian Orthodox Church was represented by Metropolitan Kirill of Kazan and Tatarstan; Archpriest Igor Vyzhanov, Deputy Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations; and DECR staff members – Hieromonk Grigory (Matrusov) and Priest Andrei Titushkin.
Among those who attended the meeting were also Grand Mufti of Russia Talgat Tadzhuddin; Mufti Albir Krganov, Head of the Spiritual Assembly of Muslims of Russia; and Mufti of Tatarstan Kamil Samigullin.
Prior to the session, the Strategic Vision Group members expressed warm wishes to Metropolitan Kirill of Kazan and Tatarstan on the occasion of his 65th birthday.
The participants in the forum discussed various topical issues pertaining to the dialogue of cultures and civilizations and further progress in accordance with traditional and religious values.
