DECR Chairman meets with representatives of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation

On September 23, 2026, Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, met with Mufti Rushan Abbyasov, First Deputy Chairman of the Council of Muftis of Russia and the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation and Chairman of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Moscow Region, and Ildar Galeev, Deputy Chairman of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation for International Affairs and Head of its Department of International Affairs.

Representing the Department for External Church Relations were DECR Deputy Chairman Archpriest Igor Vyzhanov and DECR Secretary for Interreligious Relations Priest Ilya Kashitsyn.

The participants exchanged views on a broad range of issues, including the state of interreligious relations in Russia and abroad, the cultural integration of migrants, and Russia’s relations with the countries of the Islamic world. The guests spoke about upcoming international events organized by the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation.

The meeting underscored the importance of joint witness to the Russian traditions of friendship and good-neighborly relations between religious communities.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the participants exchanged commemorative gifts.
