DECR Communication Service, 30/03/2026
On 29th March 2026, in the Church of the Holy Martyr Tatiana at the Moscow State University, a lecture on Lenten Texts of the Armenian Church took place, dedicated to the Book of Lamentations by Gregory of Narek (Grigor Narekatsi). The event was held with the assistance of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate and the Diocese of Russia and New Nakhichevan of the Armenian Apostolic Church.
As the website of St. Tatiana’s Church reports, in his lecture, Subdeacon Vartan Pogosyan of the Diocese of Russia and New Nakhichevan of the Armenian Apostolic Church dwelt on the life of Gregory of Narek and his Book of Lamentations, emphasizing its present-day importance and comparing this text with the Great Canon of Repentance by St. Andrew of Crete.
Deacons David Ogannisyan and Karlen Gasparyan, clerics of the Armenian Apostolic Church, performed several sharakans (spiritual hymns) from the Book of Lamentations which are dedicated to the Great Lent and the Holy Week.
Among those who helped organize the event were DECR staff members – Deacon Alexander Cherepenin and Danil Arakelyan.
