A Meeting Took Place Between the Chairman of the DECR and the Ambassador of Pakistan to Russia

On April 29, 2026, the Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the Russian Federation, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi.

Metropolitan Anthony welcomed the distinguished guest and thanked him for the visit.

The DECR Chairman spoke about the agenda of external church relations, including the participation of the Russian Orthodox Church in interreligious dialogue in Russia and abroad. Metropolitan Anthony also warmly recalled his visit to Islamabad.

In turn, F.N. Tirmizi spoke about the experience of coexistence of religions in Pakistan.

The participants in the meeting discussed challenges to traditional morality in modern society.

The Ambassador of Pakistan thanked the head of the DECR for the opportunity to meet and for the warm exchange.

Also taking part in the meeting was the DECR Secretary for Far Abroad Affairs, Archpriest Sergiy Zvonaryov.
