DECR representative attends Interfaith Media Forum on The Role of Russia’s Traditional Religions in Preserving and Strengthening Spiritual and Moral Values

On September 16th, an Interfaith Media Forum on The Role of Russia’s Traditional Religions in Preserving and Strengthening Spiritual and Moral Values took place at the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation in Moscow.
The meeting was organised by the Civic Chamber Commission on Interethnic and Interfaith Relations and Migration, the Civic Chamber Commission on Information Community, Mass Media and Communications, the Russian Association for the Protection of Religious Freedom, and the Russian Union of Evangelical Faith Christians (Pentecostals).
Among the forum speakers were Mr V.Yu. Zorin, Chair of the Civic Chamber Commission on Interethnic and Interfaith Relations and Migration; Ms R.A. Syabitova, Chair of the Civic Chamber Commission on Information Community, Mass Media and Communications; Mr S.A. Melnikov, Chair of the Russian Association for the Protection of Religious Freedom; Rev. S.V. Ryakhovsky, Chief Bishop of the Russian Union of Evangelical Faith Christians (Pentecostals); Mufti A.R. Krganov, head of the Spiritual Assembly of Muslims of Russia; Ms Ya.V. Lantratova, Chair of the State Duma Committee on the Development of Civil Society, Public and Religious Associations; Mr I.P. Lebedev of the Synodal Department for Church’s Relations with Society and Mass Media; Mr I.A. Nurimanov, Deputy Chairman of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation; Mr D.V. Ivliyev, Adviser to Metropolitan Korniliy of the Russian Orthodox Old Believer Church; Rev. Kirill Gorbunov, Vicar General of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of the Mother of God in Moscow; Mr T. Ariyel of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia; et al.
With the blessing of Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, Chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, Deacon Sergy Nesterov of the DECR Secretariat for Interfaith Relations attended the forum and delivered a speech.
Taking place on the sidelines of the meeting were a panel discussion on Artificial Intelligence and Religions: Risks and Opportunities, and a seminar on Artificial Intelligence: the Past and the Future.
The participants in the forum discussed various topics in relation to spiritual and moral values, life guiding principles in today’s world, artificial intelligence, and mass media.
