His Beatitude Theodore II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, during his visit to South Africa, visited on March 29, 2010, the Russian church of St. Sergius of Radonezh in Johannesburg. He was welcomed by the rector of the church, Father Daniel Lugovoy, and Russian Ambassador to South Africa A. Makarov.
After a prayer to St. Mark and St. Sergius of Rasonezh, Patriarch Theodore served a lity for the innocent people killed by terrorists in Moscow on that day, the parish web-site has reported.
Greeting His Beatitude, Father Daniel, on behalf of the parish, thanked the head of the Orthodox Church of Alexandria for the opportunity to take pastoral care of Russian-speaking people in the African continent.
