Head of Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem takes part in Divine Liturgy at the Holy Sepulchre

On 13^th September 2026, 15^th Sunday after Pentecost and the Feast of the Placing of the Venerable Sash of the Most Holy Theotokos, Metropolitan Joachim of Helenoupolis (Patriarchate of Jerusalem) officiated at the night Divine Liturgy in the Edicule of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre with the blessing of His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos of Jerusalem.

Among His Eminence’s concelebrants were Metropolitan Pimen of Rivne and Ostroh (Ukrainian Orthodox Church), clergy of the Holy Sepulchre Brotherhood and ordained pilgrims from Ukraine and Serbia.

The Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem was represented by its head, Archimandrite Vassian (Zmeyev), and Deacon Makary Petukhov.

In prayerful attendance were clerics of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem, members of local Christian communities, sisters of the Gornensky Convent and numerous pilgrims.

Liturgical hymns were performed by the choir of the Holy Sepulchre Brotherhood. The divine service was celebrated in the Greek, Arabic, Church Slavonic and Serbian languages, website of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission reports.
