Representative of the DECR took part in the international online conference “Good-Neighborliness of the Cultures of the Countries of Central Asia in the 21st Century”

On June 26, an international online conference titled “Good-Neighborliness of the Cultures of the Countries of Central Asia in the 21st Century” was held in Astana on the Zoom platform.

The organizer of the event was the International Center for Interfaith and Interreligious Dialogue of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The main goal of the conference was to discuss issues of the development of intercultural cooperation, strengthening good-neighborly relations, expanding humanitarian interaction, and promoting interreligious dialogue in the countries of Central Asia.

Participants in the conference included: Bishop Savvaty of Bishkek and Kyrgyzstan; Deputy Chairman of the Board of the International Center for Interfaith and Interreligious Dialogue Marat Kalizhanov; Director of the Department of External Relations of the International Center for Interfaith and Interreligious Dialogue Zhanserik Temirtashev; Head of the Department of Religious Rehabilitation of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kazakhstan Daniyar Kenzhalin; Representative of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Uzbekistan Ibrohim Inomov; Chancellor of the Apostolic Administration of the Catholic Church in Kyrgyzstan, Priest Janez Mihelčič; Head of the Department of Philosophy at the Institute of Scientific Information on Social Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences S.V. Melnik; Leading Expert-Religion Scholar of the Center for the Study of Religions of the Republic of Kazakhstan O.V. Sinyakov, and others.

The conference was attended by the Head of the Expert Council for Interaction with the Islamic World of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, Hieromonk Gregory (Matrusov), who addressed the participants with a welcoming speech.
