A DECR Secretary Delivered a Lecture to Personnel of the Central Commandant’s Office of the Russian National Guard

On April 28, a meeting of personnel with Priest Ilya Kashitsyn, Secretary for Interreligious Relations of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, was held at the Central Military Commandant’s Office for supporting the activities of the Federal Service of the National Guard Troops of the Russian Federation in Moscow.
The event was timed to coincide with the Day of Indigenous Small-Numbered Peoples of Russia and was organized in cooperation with the Rosgvardiya Sector of the Synodal Department for Cooperation with the Armed Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies.
With the blessing of the DECR Chairman Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, Priest I. Kashitsyn delivered a lecture on the topic: “The Current State of Interethnic and Interreligious Relations in the Russian Federation. Prevention of Conflicts on Ethnic and Religious Grounds.”
During the presentation, issues of the history and current state of interreligious relations in Russia and the world, the problems of conflicts affecting religious or national feelings of people, and the activities of the Interreligious Council of Russia and international organizations were addressed. The lecturer noted the uniqueness of the Russian experience in building good relations between religions and peoples, its demand abroad, as well as the important contribution of communities of traditional religions to maintaining peace and harmony in Russian society.
