Russian Church representatives take part in interfaith meeting at UAE Embassy in Moscow

On 17th March 2025, during the Ramadan Iftar, the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Moscow organized an interfaith meeting.
Taking part in the meeting were Grand Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin, chairman of the Spiritual Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation; Mufti Kamil Samigullin, chairman of the Spiritual Board of Muslims of Tatarstan; Dr Mohammed Ahmed Al Jaber, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates to the Russian Federation; Mr Yevgeny Yeremin, head of the Department of Cooperation with Religious Associations of the Domestic Policy Directorate under the President of the Russian Federation; Mr Jambulat Umarov, president of the Academy of Sciences of the Chechen Republic; as well as heads and staff members of foreign countries’ diplomatic missions in Russia, religious and public figures, statesmen and representatives of the mass media.
Priest Iliya Kashitsyn, secretary for interfaith relations of the Department for External Church Relations, and DECR consultant Priest Dimitry Safonov represented the Moscow Patriarchate.
In his opening speech, the UAE Ambassador emphasized his country’s commitment to the idea of tolerance and peaceful coexistence between the traditional religions’ communities and mentioned, in particular, that 2025 is declared the Year of Community in the United Arab Emirates. Among those who addressed the participants in the meeting were also Mufti Ravil Gaynutdin, Priest Iliya Kashitsyn and a representative of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia.
