Representative of the Russian Church attends Divine service at the Holy Cross Church in Damascus

On August 18, the 8th Sunday after Pentecost, archimandrite Philip (Vasiltsev), representative of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus' to the Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, took part in Matins and the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Cross Church in Damascus, the capital of Syria, at the invitation of Bishop Romanos of Seleucia, chief secretary of the Synod of the Antiochian Orthodox Church,
Bishop Romanos presided over the Divine service and was assisted by archimandrite Philip and clergy of the church, website of the Representation of the Russian Orthodox Church in Damascus reports.
After the divine service, a fraternal tea party was held in the parish hall. Bishop Romanos introduced archimandrite Philip to the parishioners and told them about the centuries-old fraternal cooperation and ministry of the Antiochian and Russian sister Churches. The representative of the Russian Orthodox Church answered questions from the parishioners and described the history and present-day life of the Russian Orthodox Church.
