Metropolitan Hilarion meets with president of the Conference of European Rabbis

On September 12, 2014, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, head of the Moscow Patriarchate’s department for external church relations, met at the DECR with Moscow’s Chief Rabbi Pinchas Goldschmidt, president of the Conference of European Rabbies.

They discussed a number of questions concerning interreligious cooperation and the role of religious leaders in resolving crises in Europe. It was agreed to develop joint efforts in opposing extremism and secularism. It was also pointed out that leaders of religious communities should consolidate their efforts in overcoming the existing social conflicts in the European space.
