Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk meets with the head of Jordanian diplomatic mission

On 20 March 2018, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, met with H.E. Mr. Amjad Adaileh, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to the Russian Federation.

Greeting the high guest, the DECR chairman shared his recollections of his visit to Jordan, during which he had the opportunity to venerate Christian shrines located in its territory.

The head of the diplomatic mission of Jordan emphasized that his country carefully preserves its Christian heritage, taking care of the holy sites and historical monuments. Mr. Adaileh also told about the efforts of the Kingdom of Jordan aimed at giving support and shelter to refuges from Syria, including Christians.

Among the issues discussed at the meeting were tourism and pilgrimage from Russia to the Kingdom of Jordan as important factors of strengthening relations between the peoples of the two countries.
