Participants in “Smart Civilization” International Futurological Club Visit Monasteries of Vologda Metropolia

On 18th June 2026, participants in the “Smart Civilization” International Futurological Club visited the Monastery of St. Cyril of Beloozero and the Ferapontov Monastery located in the territory of the Vologda Metropolia. The guests also saw expositions of the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve and the Dionisy’s Frescoes Museum.

The delegation included the Executive Director of the “Smart Civilization” Club, Mr Oleg Kostin, as well as scholars from Russia and China, including experts from the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, the Fudan University and the Renmin University of China.

On 17th June 2026, as part of the visit, a meeting of the “Smart Civilization” International Futurological Club took place. It was opened by the Governor of the Vologda Region, Mr Georgy Filimonov. Taking part in the meeting were representatives of the Vologda and other Russian higher education institutions, research and non-governmental organizations.

Mr Filimonov spoke about the Vologda Region’s cooperation with Chinese provinces which includes various research and educational projects. As the Governor of the Vologda Region also pointed out, this work is being carried out with assistance from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Russian Federation.

With the blessing of Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations, Hieromonk Kirill (Peregudin) of the DECR Secretariat for Far Abroad Countries accompanied members of the “Smart Civilization” Club on their visit.
