DECR Representative Takes Part in Meeting of International Futurological Club “Smart Civilization”

On 15^th – 16^th June 2026, the International Futurological Club “Smart Civilization” – a platform for dialogue between intellectuals from the BRICS and other friendly countries – took place in Moscow.

The meeting focused on various aspects of Russia-China civilizational dialogue.

On 15^th June, the first day of its work, the International Futurological Club met on the premises of the “Rossiya Segodnya” International News Agency. The topic of the meeting was “Civilizational Approach As Fundamental Principle of Future Global Development.”

Among those who took part in the meeting were: Mr O.A. Kostin, Executive Director of the International Futurological Club “Smart Civilization;” Mr Yang Ping, Chairman of the Beijing Longway Economic and Social Research Foundation, President of the Beijing Cultural Review; Mr Li Bo, Executive Director of the Shanghai Chunqiu Institute for Development and Strategic Studies; Mr Chen Zhiyu, head of the Political Department, Counsellor of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Moscow; Mr A.V. Yakovenko, Deputy Director-General of “Rossiya Segodnya” Media Group; Ms M.N. Belogubova, Special Representative of the Governor of St. Petersburg; Mr S.K. Krikalev, Special Presidential Representative for International Cooperation in Space, Chair of the Supervisory Board of the “Smart Civilization” Autonomous Non-Profit Organization; Ms M.E. Sittel, TV journalist, Chair of the Union of Women of Russia; as well as representatives of the Russian and Chinese higher education institutions.

With the blessing of Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, Chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, Hieromonk Kirill (Peregudin) of the DECR Secretariat for Far Abroad Countries took part in the meeting and delivered an address on the Role of Orthodoxy in the Formation of Russian Civilization: Parallels in Value and Purport with Chinese Tradition.

On 16^th June, the Club continued its work at the Moscow International Higher School of Business (MIRBIS). The topic of the meeting was “Contemporary Societies of Russia and China: Vital Force and Inspiring Role of Our Values and Traditions.”

At the end of the meeting, a memorandum was signed on the role of inter-civilizational dialogue between intellectual classes in Russia and China.
