Online project “Life As an Example. Learn from a Saint” was launched by Sourozh Diocese
DECR Communication Service, 24/03/2026
On 18th March 2026, with the blessing of Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, an online meeting bringing together teachers and students of parish schools, as well as their families, was held to mark the launch of the Sourozh Diocese’s inter-parish educational project “Life as an Example. Learn from a Saint.”
The meeting focused on a book by I.N. Sudakova – Saint Luke of Crimea. The choice was not accidental, for March 18th marked the 30th anniversary of the uncovering of the holy relics of Saint Luke (Voyno-Yasenetsky), Archbishop of Simferopol and Crimea, an outstanding archpastor and physician whose life was a vivid example of the service to God and people.
Taking part in the meeting were more than 30 families from various parishes of the Sourozh Diocese. The children enjoyed reading the book, answered the book-related questions and shared their impressions. In conclusion, the participants noted that such meetings not only help them acquaint themselves with religious literature but also inspire to reflect on the life journey of Christian ascetics and holy pious men and women.
The event was moderated by E.N. Poplavskaya, Head of the Department of Religious Education of the Sourozh Diocese and Director of the Holy Martyr Elizabeth Children’s Parish School at the Dormition Cathedral in London, diocesan website reports.
It is planned that online readings will be held regularly — once a week.
