Church of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos at Russian Embassy in Pakistan celebrates its patronal feast

On 14th October 2026, the Feast of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos, the church at the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Islamabad, Pakistan, celebrated its patronal feast.
The Divine Liturgy on the feast day was celebrated by Archimandrite Alexander (Zarkeshev). Assisting him was Deacon Alexy Kostin.
Among those who attended the divine service were Mr Albert Khorev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and Mr Andrei Metelitsa, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
Many of the parishioners present partook of Holy Communion.
At the conclusion of the Liturgy, Father Alexander celebrated a moleben (prayer service) to the Mother of God in front of an icon of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos. After that, “Many Years” was sung.
In his sermon, the priest extended greetings to the parishioners on the patronal feast of their church and emphasised the importance of gathering for prayer in the church and taking care of the house of God.
After the service, all those present were invited to share a fraternal meal.
