Orthodox Church in Thailand to assist flood victims in Ratchaburi Province
DECR Communication service, 02.10.2026.
Due to severe flooding in Thailand’s Ratchaburi Province and the evacuation of residents from the affected areas, the Foundation of the Orthodox Church in Thailand has decided to provide the necessary assistance to people affected by the natural disaster.
Archimandrite Oleg (Cherepanin), Secretary of the Diocese of Thailand, called upon the clergy and faithful to show Christian mercy and active concern for people in distress, and to pray for those affected, as well as for rescuers and volunteers.
In addition, facilities located on the grounds of the Dormition Monastery in Ratchaburi Province may be used to temporarily accommodate evacuated residents. In case of extreme necessity, the monastery church may also be used to provide temporary shelter for those affected. Arrangements have been made to provide food, drinking water and essential supplies. The clergy, staff, parishioners and volunteers have been encouraged, to the extent of their abilities, to take part in assisting those in need, the website of the Diocese of Thailand reported on 30 September 2026.
Particular attention will be given to cooperation with local authorities and emergency services. Church representatives have been instructed to provide them with every possible assistance in carrying out evacuation and humanitarian operations.
