Visit of Russian Orthodox Church delegation to Lebanon concludes

On the 29th of September, the programme of the visit to Lebanon by a delegation of the Russian Orthodox Church headed by Metropolitan Alexy of Chelyabinsk and Miass came to an end.

With the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’ and at the invitation of Metropolitan Niphon of Philippopolis, from 25 to 29 of September the delegation visited the Zahle and Baalbek and Beirut Metropolises of the Antiochian Orthodox Church, took part in the Sunday Divine Liturgy at the Church of the Icon of the Mother of God “Unexpected Joy” in the Lebanese city of Zahle, and paid a visit to Metropolitan Elias of Beirut, according to the website of the Representation of the Russian Orthodox Church at the See of the Patriarch of Antioch.

As part of the visit, meetings were also held with Maronite Patriarch Bechara Boutros al-Rahi at his summer residence in the Monastery of Diman, Lebanese Deputy Prime Minister Tarek Mitri, and Minister of Defence General Michel Menassa.

The meetings were attended by A. N. Rudakov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Lebanon.

During the visit, the delegation of the Russian Orthodox Church was accompanied by Metropolitan Niphon of Philippopolis, Representative of the Patriarch of Antioch and All the East to the Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’, and Archimandrite Philip (Vasiltsev), Representative of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’ at the See of the Patriarch of Antioch.
