"Religious Diplomacy in a Multipolar World" Master's Programme launched with the participation of the Church

On September 8, 2026, a meeting was held at the National Research University Higher School of Economics marking the launch of a new Master's programme, “Religious Diplomacy in a Multipolar World.”

The programme is being implemented by the HSE School of Law and Administration in partnership with the Ss Cyril and Methodius Institute of Post-Graduate Studies and the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate.

The meeting was attended by D.L. Kuznetsov, Director of the HSE School of Law and Administration; A.P. Torshin, Academic Director of the Master's programme and Professor at the HSE School of Law and Administration; Archpriest Igor Vyzhanov, Deputy Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations; Archpriest Valentin Vasechko, First Vice-Rector of the Ss Cyril and Methodius Institute of Post-Graduate Studies; Archpriest Sergiy Zvonaryov, DECR Secretary for the affairs of the far abroad; programme coordinators, mentors and instructors with many years of experience in public service and diplomacy.

Words of guidance were addressed to the first cohort of Master's students for the 2026/2027 academic year, who were also presented with their student ID cards.

The full-time Master's programme is designed for two years. Its teaching staff includes specialists in diplomacy and international relations, international law and external church relations.

Graduates of the programme will acquire the competencies necessary for practical and expert work, as well as academic and research skills in the field of religious diplomacy.
