DECR Representative Addresses Interreligious Event on the Unity of the Peoples of Russia
DECR Communication Service, 31.07.2026.
On July 30, 2026, an interreligious round table on the theme “The Unity of the Peoples of Russia and the Followers of Traditional Religions” was held in Moscow at the premises of the Regional Public Organization “Association of Mountain Jews.”
The event was organized by the Institute of Religion and Politics with the participation of the STMEGI Foundation and the Mountain Jewish community of Russia. Participants in the round table included representatives of Christian denominations, Jewish, Muslim, and Buddhist communities, as well as public figures and academics.
Representing the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations at the forum was Priest Ilya Kashitsyn, DECR Secretary for Interreligious Relations and Executive Secretary of the Interreligious Council of Russia. He spoke about the Council’s activities and about Russia’s experience in building interreligious and interethnic relations, which is particularly relevant today amid political, economic, and military instability in the world. The speaker also recalled passages from Holy Scripture that call people to dialogue, peace, and responsibility before God.
