DECR Staff Member Takes Part in Conference on Sport, Education and Spirituality: Integrating Physical and Spiritual Development

On 13^th May 2026, an Applied Research Conference on Sport, Education and Spirituality: Integrating Physical and Spiritual Development took place at the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation.

Acting as moderators were Vladimir Zorin, Chairman of the Civic Chamber Commission on Interethnic and Interreligious Relations and Migration, and Sergey Ryakhovsky, Presiding Bishop of the Russian United Union of Christians of Evangelical Faith (Pentecostals).

Among those in attendance were representatives of Russia’s traditional religions and non-governmental organizations, as well as professional athletes.

With the blessing of Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, Сhairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, Hieromonk Kirill (Peregudin) of the DECR Secretariat for Far Abroad Countries took part in the conference, conveying to those present greetings from the DECR Chairman.

The main topic of the conference was integration of traditional spiritual and moral principles into physical training and sport and practical steps towards it, involving, among others, representatives of traditional religions in Russia.
