Bishop Kirill of Sergiev Posad and Dmitrov Met with Hierarchs of the Malankara Church Who Had Arrived in Russia

On April 29, at the invitation of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’, a delegation of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church arrived in Russia.

The delegation included: Metropolitan Geevarghese Mar Coorilos of Mumbai; Metropolitan Yuhanon Mar Policarpos of Angamaly; and Priest Ashwin Fernandes, Executive Director of the Department of External Church Relations of the Malankara Church.

On April 30, the guests visited the Holy Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius and the Moscow Theological Academy, where they met with Bishop Kirill of Sergiev Posad and Dmitrov, co-chairman of the Working Group for coordinating bilateral relations between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Malankara Church. During the conversation, the parties discussed areas of cooperation within the activities of the Working Group. Hieromonk Mark (Akhmatkhanov), a staff member of the Secretariat for Inter-Christian Relations of the Department for External Church Relations, also took part in the meeting.

On the same day, within the framework of the National Inter-University Student Conference “Current Issues of Contemporary Theological Science,” in the Small Assembly Hall of the Academy, representatives of the Church of India met with students, spoke about the history and contemporary life of the Malankara Church, and answered questions.
