Metropolitan Kyriakos of Nazareth officiates at Divine Liturgy at Russian Ecclesiastical Mission’s Metochion in Magdala

On 26th April 2026, Third Sunday of Pascha, Sunday of the Holy Myrrh-Bearing Women, the Metochion of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Magdala – Church of St. Mary Magdalene – celebrated its patronal feast. Metropolitan Kyriakos of Nazareth, Exarch of All Galilee, officiated at the Divine Liturgy at the Metochion on the feast day with the blessing of His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos of Jerusalem.
Concelebrating with His Eminence were Archimandrite Vassian (Zmeyev), head of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem, Hieromonk Filofei (Artushin) and Deacon Makary Petukhov of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission, and clerics of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem.
Among those in prayerful attendance were Mr Alexei Krasilnikov, Consul General of the Russian Federation in Haifa; Hegumenia Yekaterina (Chernysheva), abbess of the Gornensky Convent in Ein Karem, with sisters of the convent; Nun Alevtina (Nemets), senior sister of the Magdala Metochion, with other female workers of the metochion; and numerous pilgrims.
The divine service was celebrated in the Church Slavonic, Greek and Arabic languages. A choir of the Gornensky Convent sisters performed liturgical hymns.
After the dismissal, a procession of the cross took place. At the Spring of Mary Magdalene, Father Vassian read out the Gospel reading of the Sunday of the Myrrh-Bearing Women and sprinkled worshippers with holy water.
After that, Archimandrite Vassian and Metropolitan Kyryakos exchanged greetings. A festive repast followed, Mission’s website reports.
