Rev. Georgy Sergeyev, responsible for providing pastoral guidance to Russian Church’s flock in Turkey, takes part in conference on pilgrimage and tourism

With the blessing of Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, Priest Georgy Sergeyev, who is responsible for providing pastoral guidance to the flock of the Russian Orthodox Church in the territory of the Republic of Türkiye, took part in an international conference aimed at facilitating the involvement of cultural and natural heritage sites and actors within the sphere of recreational, entertainment and cultural activities in regional and global routes of religious tourism.
The conference, held in St. Petersburg on 22nd – 23rd April 2026, was organized by the St. Petersburg Metropolia of the Russian Orthodox Church and the St. Petersburg Committee for Tourism Development.
As was reported by the official page of the Moscow Patriarchate’s communities in Turkey, Father Georgy Sergeyev participated in the conference plenary session, having delivered an address on Religious Tourism Routes as An Instrument of Preserving Cultural Sovereignty, Based on the Experience of Organizing Pilgrimages to Byzantine Holy Sites.
