Representatives of the Russian Church take part in the Service of the Holy Light in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre

On 11^th April 2026, Holy Saturday, His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos of the Holy City of Jerusalem and All Palestine officiated at the Service of the Holy Light in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem and passed to the faithful the Holy Fire from the Edicule of the Holy Sepulchre. Waiting for that solemn moment inside the church were thousands of pilgrims from various countries.

Among those who took part in the Patriarchal procession around the Edicule were Metropolitan Vikenty of Tashkent and Uzbekistan; Mr Anatoly Viktorov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the State of Israel, with his spouse; and Mr Yury Yaroshevich, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the State of Israel. Among those praying in the church during the Service of the Holy Light was Metropolitan Feognost of Kashira, chairman of the Synodal Department for Monasteries and Monasticism, who was accompanying a delegation of the St. Andrew the First-Called Foundation.

Taking part in the Service of the Holy Light on behalf of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem was Hieromonk Filofei (Artyushin), Mission’s website reports.
