Hierarch of the Russian Church takes part in celebrations marking great consecration of the Serbian Church of the Resurrection of Christ in Frankfurt am Main

On 27th April 2025, Second Sunday after Easter, of Apostle Thomas, Archbishop Tikhon of Ruza, administrator of the Diocese of Berlin and Germany of the Russian Orthodox Church, took part in the celebrations on the occasion of the great consecration of the Church of the Resurrection of Christ in Frankfurt am Main at the invitation of Archbishop Grigorije of Düsseldorf and Germany (Serbian Orthodox Church).

Metropolitan Joanikije of Montenegro and the Littoral officiated at the great consecration and the Divine Liturgy that followed. Concelebrating with him were Archbishop Tikhon of Ruza and hierarchs of the Serbian Orthodox Church – Metropolitan Teodosije of Raška-Prizren, Metropolitan Justin of Žiča, Archbishop Grigorije of Düsseldorf and Germany, and Bishop Konstantin of Central Europe; as well as clerics of the Serbian and Russian Churches.
The divine service was celebrated in the Serbian, Church Slavonic and German languages. website of the Berlin and Germany Diocese reports.

For his zealous work in preparation for the great consecration, the church rector, Priest Simon Turkic, was elevated to the rank of archpriest and awarded the jewelled cross. After the Gospel reading, Metropolitan Justin of Žiča gave a sermon on the appearance of the Risen Lord to the Apostle Thomas.
At the end of the Liturgy, Archbishop Grigorije, head of the Diocese of Düsseldorf and Germany, addressed those present with a homily and presented the Patriarchal awards – the Order of the Holy King Milutin – to the laypeople and benefactors who had made their contribution to adorning and creating fresco ensemble for the church. Lord Mayor of Frankfurt am Main Mike Josef was awarded the Order of St Sava of Serbia, 2nd class.
The Divine Liturgy was followed by a reception attended by some 600 people who came to Frankfurt for the celebrations from various German cities.
