The 14th All-Lebanon Conference of Russian Compatriots Organizations takes place in Beirut

On April 4, the 14th All-Lebanon Conference of Organizations of Russian Compatriots was held at the Russian House in Beirut.

Among those attending the conference were archimandrite Philip (Vasiltsev), representative of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus' to the Patriarch of Antioch and All the East; H.E. Alexander Rudakov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Lebanon; Mr. Alexander A. Sorokin, representative of Rossotrudnichestvo in Lebanon; Mr. Andrei A. Dvornikov, attaché for culture and sports of the Russian Embassy in Lebanon; Mr. Andrei V. Mustayev, counselor of the Russian Embassy in Lebanon; Mrs. Svetlana D. Safa, a member of the Coordinating Council of Russian Compatriots Organizations in North Africa and the Middle East; Mrs. Mira G. Youness, chair of the Coordinating Council of Russian Compatriots in Lebanese Republic; Mrs. Natalia V. Goncharova, a member of the Committee of the Russian-Lebanese Educational Cultural Centre “Fairy-Tale Club” in Tyre; Mrs. Natalia V. Semaan, chair of the Lebanese society of Russian language and literature teachers; Mrs. Irina V. Sakr, honorary president of the Russian-Lebanese Cultural House in Batroun; Mrs. Alla V. El-Rawas, chair of the International association of Russian-speaking women in Lebanon; Mr. Ali Samer Ibrahim, member of the youth wing of the Coordinating Council of Russian Compatriots in Lebanon; and Mrs. Tatiana I. El-Helou, coordinator of the All-Russian public movement "Volunteers of Victory" in Lebanon.

Ambassador Rudakov noted that fourteen years ago the Coordinating Council brought together the most active structures of the Russian community in Lebanon. He said, "During this time, the movement of the Russian diaspora was developing and consolidating. The leadership of the Russian Federation pays particular attention to this process and gives all possible supports to it."

Addressing the conference participants, archimandrite Philip (Vasiltsev) read out the words of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus' said at the 5^th World Congress of Compatriots Living Abroad held in Moscow in November 2015, emphasizing the need to consolidate the Russian diaspora at hard time of historical trials.

Based on the results of the conference, a resolution was adopted, which includes archimandrite Philip’s suggestion to appoint a Coordinating Committee’s member responsible for cooperation with representatives of traditional religions of Russia living in Lebanon, website of the Beirut Metochion of the Russian Orthodox Church reports.
