Meeting of the Council of the Christian Interconfessional Advisory Committee has been held

On February 28, 2025, a meeting of the Council of the Christian Interconfessional Advisory Committee (CIAC) took place at the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate.

The meeting was attended by: the Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate and Co-Chairman of the CIAC, Metropolitan Antony of Volokolamsk; the Ordinary of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of the Mother of God in Moscow and Co-Chairman of the CIAC, Archbishop Paolo Pezzi; the First Deputy Chairman of the Euro-Asian Division of the General Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and Co-Chairman of the CIAC, O.Y. Goncharov; Archbishop Vladimir Provorov of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Russia; Priest Gevorg Vardanyan, a cleric of the Russian and Novo-Nakhichevan Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church; Presiding Bishop of the Russian United Union of Christians of Evangelical Faith (Pentecostals) S.V. Ryakhovsky; First Deputy Chairman of the Russian Union of Evangelical Christians-Baptists V.V. Ignatenkov; Presiding Bishop of the Russian Church of Christians of Evangelical Faith E.A. Grabovenko; Bishop Ivan Laptev of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ingria; Representative of the Assyrian Church of the East in Russia, Chorbishop Samano Odisho; Chairman of the All-Union Fellowship of Evangelical Christians L.V. Kartavenko; Secretary of the DECR for Inter-Christian Relations and Secretary of the CIAC, Hieromonk Stefan (Igumnov); Staff Member of the DECR Secretariat for Inter-Christian Relations, Hieromonk Mark (Akhmathanov); Representative of the Assyrian Community of Moscow A. Danilov; Head of the Administration of the Russian Church of Christians of Evangelical Faith I.I. Borichevsky; Head of the Public Relations Department of the Russian United Union of Christians of Evangelical Faith (Pentecostals) E.E. Tseloukhova; Pastor of the Local Religious Organization of the Church of Christians of Evangelical Faith "Good News" P. Renner; Head of the Public Relations Department of the Moscow Association of the Seventh-day Adventist Church P.V. Gonchar.

The Council members reviewed applications for membership in the CIAC fr om the Parishes of the Assyrian Church of the East in Russia and the All-Union Fellowship of Evangelical Christians. It was decided to submit their candidacies for approval at the next Plenary session of the CIAC.

The participants also discussed other issues related to the activities of the CIAC and outlined the agenda for the current year.

The Christian Interconfessional Advisory Committee was established in 1993 and is the largest inter-Christian platform in Eurasia.

The highest governing body of the Committee is the Plenary —an expanded forum convened with representation from each of the confessions present in the territories of the countries wh ere the CIAC operates.

During the inter-plenary period, the Council serves as the permanent governing body of the CIAC.
