Representative of the Orthodox Church of Antioch in Moscow celebrates 36th anniversary of episcopal consecration
DECR Communication Service, 13/11/2024
On 13th November 2024, Metropolitan Niphon of Philippopolis, Representative of the Patriarch of Antioch and All the East to the Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’, Rector of the Antiochian Metochion in Moscow, celebrated the 36th anniversary of his episcopal consecration. The oldest hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church – Metropolitan Yuvenaly (Poyarkov) – visited Metropolitan Niphon and congratulated him on this memorable occasion.
During a brotherly conversation, they shared with each other their recollections of the great Russian hierarchs, with whom they had had occasion to con-celebrate, including Metropolitan Philaret (Vakhromeyev) of blessed memory, who in 1988 took part in Metropolitan Niphon’s episcopal consecration in Damascus. The two hierarchs also offered prayers for His Holiness Patriarch Kirill.
Metropolitan Yuvenaly presented to Metropolitan Niphon a panagia as a token of their longstanding friendship and wished him that the construction of the church which Metropolitan Niphon is building in the Russian style in his native city of Zahle in Lebanon be successfully completed.
