An arson attack on an UOC church has occurred in the Zhytomyr region of Ukraine.

On the evening of September 4, 2024, the Pokrovsky Church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the village of Zeremlya, Baranivka district, Zhytomyr region, caught fire, according to the website of the Zhytomyr diocese.
The fire was localized at 11:50 PM, and was completely extinguished by 12:19 AM. However, by that time, the church had burned both inside and out.
According to the press service of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Zhytomyr region, the fire destroyed the roof, ceilings, and property inside the building. Currently, all circumstances of the emergency situation are being investigated by specialists.
Preliminary conclusions by law enforcement indicate that the fire was the result of intentional arson committed by a criminal.
