His Holiness Patriarch Kirill celebrates All-night Vigil at the Christ the Savior Cathedral on the eve of Transfiguration

In the evening of August 18, the eve of the feast of the Transfiguration of our Lord God and Saviour Jesus Christ, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus' celebrated the All-night Vigil at the Christ the Savior Cathedral in Moscow.

His Holiness was assisted by Metropolitan Grigoriy of Voskresensk, chancellor of the Moscow Patriarchate and the first vicar of His Holiness for the city of Moscow; Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations; Metropolitan Arseniy of Zvenigorod; Archbishop Foma of Odintsovo and Krasnogorsk, head of the Administrative Secretariat of the Moscow Patriarchate; Bishop Siluan of Pavlovsky Posad, deputy chancellor of the Moscow Patriarchate; Bishop Kirill of Sergiev Posad and Dmitrov, abbot of the Lavra of the Holy Trinity and St. Sergius and rector of the Moscow Theological Academy; Bishop Alexiy of Ramenskoye, private secretary to His Holiness Patriarch Kirill; Bishop Methodius of Yegoryevsk, abbot of the stavropegic monastery of St. Nicholas ‘in Ugresha’ and rector of St. Tikhon's Orthodox University of Humanities; Protopresbyter Vladimir Divakov, secretary to the Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus' for the city of Moscow; archpriest Nikolai Balashov, advisor to the Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus'; archimandrite Gavriil (Melnikov), cleric of the Lipetsk diocese, elected as Bishop of Naberezhnye Chelny and Yelabuga; archimandrite Mikhail (Malakhanov), cleric of the Petropavlovsk diocese, elected as Bishop of Yugra and Nyagan; archimandrite Makariy (Yushchenko), cleric of the Tobolsk diocese, elected as Bishop of Gorno-Altaysk and Chemal; as well as clergy of the city of Moscow.

The liturgical hymns were performed by the Patriarchal Choir of the Christ the Savior Cathedral conducted by Iliya Tolkachev) and the Chamber Choir of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior conducted by Sergei Sidorenko.

The service was broadcast live on the Soyuz and Spas TV channels, and on Patriarchia.ru, official website of the Russian Orthodox Church.

At the end of the All-night Vigil in the Throne Hall of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill officiated at the nomination of archimandrites Gavriil, Mikhail and Makariy as Bishops of Naberezhnye Chelny and Yelabuga, Yugra and Nyagan, and Gorno-Altaisk and Chemal respectively, Patriarchia.ru reports.
