Parish of the Cathedral of Saint Nicholas in Vienna participates in the Lange Nacht der Kirchen (“Night of the Churches”) festival.
DECR Communication service, 10.06.2024.
Taking place in Austria on 7th June was the annual Lange Nacht der Kirchen (“Night of the Churches”) festival, which offers a unique opportunity to become acquainted with various aspects of church life. During the festival services are held in the churches of various denominations, lectures are delivered and excursions and concerts are given.
It has now become part of established tradition for the Cathedral of Saint Nicholas to take part in this event. The church’s guests were able to take part in excursions in the cathedral, listen to lectures on the Orthodox faith and also attend a concert of Orthodox church music performed by the cathedral choir directed by Alexandra Savenkova, reports the website of the Vienna-Austria diocese.
In addition, well into the night a fair was held in the courtyard of the church at which each visitor could partake of the atmosphere of Russian culture and tradition cooking, try dishes made according to old recipes and simply enjoy the unique atmosphere of the festival.
