The clergy of the Patriarchal parishes in USA participate in the celebration of the 120th anniversary of Saint Tikhon’s monastery of the Orthodox Church in America.

On 27^th May on US Memorial Day celebrations took place at Saint Tikhon’s monastery of the Orthodox Church in America on the occasion of the 120^th anniversary of its founding.

By invitation of His Beatitude the Metropolitan of All America and Canada Tikhon and with the blessing of the temporary administrator of the Patriarchal parishes in the USA the bishop of Sourozh Matthew the solemnities were attended by the acting secretary of the Patriarchal parishes in the USA abbot Nikodim (Balyasnikov) and the head of the chancery Father Mark Rashkov.

The Divine Liturgy on this day was headed by His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon. Concelebrating with him were the archbishop of New York and New Jersey Michael, the father superior of Saint Tikhon’s monastery archimandrite Sergius (Boyer) with the inmates of the monastery in priestly rank, the dean of saint Tikhon’s seminary archpriest John Parker, the secretary of the chancery of His Beatitude Father Alessandro Margeritino and clergy of the Orthodox Church in America.

At the conclusion of the service a meeting was held between His Beatitude and the representatives of the administration of the Patriarchal parishes in the USA and the head of the chancery of the Orthodox Church in America. During the discussion agreement was reached on the creation of a bilateral working group for the preparation of the celebration in 2025 of memorial events connected with the 100^th anniversary of the day of the repose of Saint Tikhon of Moscow and the 55^th anniversary of the granting by the Russian Orthodox Church of the Tomos of autocephaly for the Orthodox Church in America.

The plan for celebrating these events in the jubilee year will be studied and confirmed in the near future during a personal meeting between His Beatitude the Metropolitan of America and Canada Tikhon and the temporary administrator of the Patriarchal parishes in the USA.
