DECR chairman leads delegation of Russian Orthodox Church to meeting of Central Committee of World Council of Churches

On June 21, the Central Committee of the World Council of Churches begins its meeting in Geneva. A delegation of the Moscow Patriarchate led by the chairman of the Department for External Church Relations, Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, has arrived in Switzerland to attend it. The delegation includes Archimandrite Philaret (Bulekov), DECR vice-chairman; Archpriest Mikhail (Gundyaev), representative of the Russian Orthodox Church to the World Council of Churches and international organizations in Geneva; Hieromonk Stephen (Igumnov), DECR secretary for inter-Christian relations; and Ms. M. B. Nelyubova, a staff member of the DECR.

The WCC Central Committee is the principal governing body of the World Council of Churches in the inter-assembly period and it holds its meetings at least once in every two years. The present meeting will last until June 27.
