Patriarchate of Antioch calls world leaders to heed violations of the rights of Ukrainian Orthodox Church faithful
DECR Communication Service, 26.04.2023.
On April 25, the Holy Synod of the Antiochian Orthodox Church held its extraordinary session in Balamand under the chairmanship of His Beatitude Patriarch John X of Antioch and All the East and expressed solidarity with the brethren in the Ukrainian Orthodox Church suffering from “injustice of religious persecutions.”
Members of the Synod “appealed to world leaders to take heed of the discrimination and violation of human rights and religious freedoms experienced by the faithful and leaders of this Church that have gone as far as to their being evicted from the Lavra Monastery in Kiev,” the Information and Education Department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church reports with reference to the publication on the official Facebook page of the Patriarchate of Antioch.
The participants in the session “offered up their prayers for the whole Orthodox world, beseeching the Risen Lord to protect His Church from schisms.”
