Ukrainian Orthodox Church believers subjected to injustice, violence and persecution, Serbian Patriarch stresses
DECR Communication Service, 14.04.2023.
"Today we devoutly pray to the Risen Lord for the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, its hierarchy and its faithful who are subjected to injustice, violence and persecution," reads the Paschal message addressed to the faithful by His Holiness Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia together with the hierarchs of the Serbian Patriarchate.
"All of us, dear brothers and sisters, both when we suffer and when we rejoice, must not forget that the final answer and the key to life is in the words of Christ: These things I have spoken to you, that you may have peace in Me. In the world ye shall have tribulation; but be of good cheer: I have overcome the world (John 16:33). Therefore, together with the angels, let us sing the victory song: "Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death and upon those in the tombs bestowing life", reads the message.
The Primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church urged the flock to pray "for peace in Ukraine, for an end to suffering and conflict".
