Patriarchal Exarch of Southeast Asia celebrates prayer service at the construction site of an Orthodox church in Singapore

On March 16, Metropolitan Sergy of Singapore and Southeast Asia, Patriarchal Exarch of Southeast Asia, celebrated a prayer service at the construction site of the Church of the Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God and the Russian Cultural Centre in Singapore. Praying at the service were Bishop Pitirim of Jakarta, vicar of the Diocese of Singapore, monks and parishioners, website of the Exarchate reports.

Attending the prayer service were also H.E. Nikolai Kudashev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Singapore; Mr. Alexander Solovyev, representative of Rossotrudnichestvo; Dr. Mikhail Bondareko, trade representative of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Singapore; embassy employees and representatives of the construction firm.

The Russian Cultural Centre and the Church of the Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God are being constructed on the basis of the agreement between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Singapore. The Presidents of Russia and Singapore, Mr. Vladimir Putin and Ms Halimah Yacob, attended the groundbreaking ceremony in November 2018.
