A book published in the context of the Orthodox Churches' opposition to the conversion of the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul into a mosque was presented at the General Assembly of the WCC
On September 2 in Karlsruhe, Germany, on the sidelines of the the XI General Assembly of the World Council of Churches there was a presentation of the book "Hagia Sophia. Churches dedicated to the Wisdom of God Around the World".
The book was published under the aegis of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy in the context of the opposition of the Orthodox Churches and inter-Orthodox organizations to the conversion of Hagia Sophia in Istanbul into a mosque. The book contains descriptions of churches dedicated to Hagia Sophia - the Wisdom of God, many of which are located on the canonical territory of the Russian Orthodox Church.
The event, organized by the Jerusalem Patriarchate, was attended by representatives of delegations from Local Orthodox Churches and the Oriental Churches. M. Harakopoulos, Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy, Dr. A. Kavas, and other speakers addressed the audience.
