Metropolitan Clement of Nezhin and Priluky informed the OSCE mission about attacks against the faithful of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church
On July 21, 2021, Metropolitan Clement of Nezhin and Priluky met with representatives of the OSCE mission in Ukraine to discuss the violations of religious rights of the faithful of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, reports the website of the Diocese of Nezhin.
The OSCE representatives were interested in the process of investigation of the crimes committed against parishioners of the Diocese of Nezhin of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
Metropolitan Clement told them in particular about the attack of radicals on the procession with the cross held by the faithful of the Nezhin Diocese on June 23, 2021. At that time, Ukrainian “patriots” with US flags attacked the procession with the cross in Nezhin and provoked a fight. The most active participant in the attack, Stanislav Proshchenko, is the person who looks after the interests of the “OCU” in that region.
The monitoring mission also wanted to find out whether city deputies participated in the hooligan actions and whether there were any consequences for them.
The representatives of the mission also asked about the actions of provocateurs in social networks, especially about calls to physical assault on the faithful of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
