Orthodox parish in Cambodia opens Khmer language courses
On June 27, 2021, the first language lesson was held for parishioners of the St. George church in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The Khmer language is taught by parishioner Vibol Chhai.
‘Beginning to study a foreign language, we have an opportunity to come to a better knowledge of the culture and mentality of people of various countries through getting acquainted with their history, geography and art’, states the Patriarchal Exarchate of the South-East Asia in its report in the v kontakte social network.
Khmer is Cambodia’s basic language. Orthodox priests serving in that country celebrate in Church Slavonic, English and Khmer.
The Khmer language courses will take place on Sundays after the Liturgy.
