His Holiness Patriarch Kirill chairs meeting of Supreme Church Council

On 15th June 2021, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia presided over
an online meeting of the Supreme Church Council of the Russian Orthodox Church.

The Primate of the Russian Church participated in the session remotely, from the Holy
Synod’s historical hall at the Patriarchal residence in Peredelkino.

In his opening address His Holiness presented the meeting agenda.

The participants in the session heard a report by Metropolitan Yevgeny of Yekaterinburg
and Verkhoturye, chairman of the Synodal Department for Religious Education and
Catechisation, who spoke on dates and topics of the 30 th International Christmas
Readings; as well as an annual report on the work of the Synodal Department for Youth
Affairs, presented by its chairman, Bishop Serafim of Istra; an annual report on parish
youth ministry, delivered by Metropolitan Yevgeny of Yekaterinburg and Verkhoturye
and Bishop Serafim of Istra; and an annual report on seminary teachers associations,
prepared by Archpriest Maxim Kozlov, chairman of the Education Committee of the
Russian Orthodox Church.

The Supreme Church Council chaired by His Holiness Patriarch Kirill consists of:

• Hegumenness Ksenia (Chernega), head of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Legal
Administration.

Invited to take part in the meeting were also Bishop Savva of Zelenograd, deputy
chancellor of the Moscow Patriarchate; Bishop Nikolai of Balashikha and Orekhovo-
Zuyevo, head and editor-in-chief of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Publishing House;
and Mr. Alexander Schipkov, first deputy chairman of the Synodal Department for
Church’s Relations with Society and Mass Media.
