“Compatriots – Descendants of Great Russians-2012” International Conference” opens in Moscow

On 18 June 2012, the “Compatriots – Descendants of Great Russians-2012” International Conference opened in Moscow. Taking part in the forum are descendants of dynasties from fifteen countries, including the descendants of the Patriotic War of 1812. Attending the conference are representatives of the federal executive and legislative power, subjects of the Russian Federation and Russian non-governmental organizations.

Archpriest Sergiy Zvonarev, secretary for far abroad countries of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations (DECR), who takes part in the conference, read out greetings from Metropolitan Hilarion, the DECR chairman.

The compatriots will discuss the issues pertaining to Russian history and spirituality of Russia, and of humanitarian, legal and material support of the Russian-speaking diasporas.
