St. Nicholas Cathedral of Russian Orthodox Church in Tehran was damaged in missile strike

In the early morning of April 1, 2026, two ballistic missiles hit an area 150 metres fr om St. Nicholas Cathedral of the Moscow Patriarchate in Tehran, Iran. The explosions occurred at 5.37 a.m.
The shock wave smashed the central entrance gates and one church window (other windows burst open), as well as a glass icon case. Plasterwork fell off in some of the premises.
In the outbuilding, wh ere a cleric of the church, Hegumen Varlaam (Dulsky), lives, the glass door got broken. Father Varlaam escaped unharmed.
