Hierarchical Service Held on the Feast Day of the Martyr Wenceslaus of Bohemia at the Moscow Metochion of the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia

On March 17, 2026, the feast day of the Holy Martyr Wenceslaus of Bohemia, with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’, the Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts at the Moscow Metochion of the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia was presided over by Bishop Seraphim of Istra, First Deputy Chairman of the Publishing Council of the Russian Orthodox Church.
Concelebrating with the hierarch at the Church of St. Nicholas in Kotelniki were: Archimandrite Seraphim (Shemjatovsky), representative of the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia to the Moscow Patriarchal Throne and rector of the Metochion; Archpriest Nikolai Lishchenyuk, representative of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’ to the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia and rector of the Church of Saints Peter and Paul in Karlovy Vary; Priest Vyacheslav Novak, dean of the Lyubertsy district of the Podolsk Diocese; clergy of the Metochion; and visiting clergy.
Present in the church were the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Slovakia to Russia Peter Priputen, Minister-Counselor of the Slovak Embassy Karol Smetana, State Duma deputy S.A. Gavrilov, and other distinguished guests, reports the Metochion’s website.
After the Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts, Bishop Seraphim and the clergy venerated the Cross of the Lord; a hymn of magnification to the Holy Martyr Wenceslaus was sung.
The hierarch addressed the parishioners and guests of the church with a sermon and conveyed to all present the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill.
For his part, the rector of the Metochion warmly greeted Bishop Seraphim of Istra on behalf of His Beatitude Metropolitan Rastislav of the Czech Lands and Slovakia.
