Prayer Service for Peace of the Whole World Held at the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem

On March 8, the Second Sunday of Great Lent and the commemoration of St. Gregory Palamas, Archbishop of Thessalonica, Archimandrite Vassian (Zmeev), Head of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem, celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the house church of the Mission, dedicated to the Holy Martyr Queen Alexandra. He was concelebrated by the clergy of the Mission and pilgrim clergy from Russia and Moldova.

On the evening of March 7, an All-Night Vigil was served, reports the Mission’s website.

Worshippers from Jerusalem and nearby cities prayed at the services in the church.

At the Liturgy, a prayer for the granting of peace was read.

At the conclusion of the service, the clergy, led by Archimandrite Vassian, served a prayer service “for the cessation of wars and for the peace of the whole world.”

The liturgical hymns were performed by the choir of the sisters of the Gorny Convent.
