His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’ has expressed his condolences on the assassination of Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

Your Excellency, esteemed Mr. President!
Please accept my deepest condolences on the assassination of Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, and his relatives.
The deceased was a man of profound religious convictions, a spiritual and national leader of great strength of spirit and character. I ask you to convey my words of sympathy and support to the family and loved ones of the departed.
May the All‑Merciful God grant them and the entire people of Iran the strength and fortitude to endure the anguish of bereavement.
