Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations meets with Ambassador of Iraq to Russia

On 26 February, Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations (DECR), met with H.E. Abdul‑Karim Hashim Mostafa, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Iraq to the Russian Federation.
Metropolitan Anthony welcomed the diplomat at the DECR premises and told him about the activities of this synodal structure, as well as about the experience of interreligious cooperation in Russia.
During the talk, the participants discussed topical issues of contemporary international relations.
Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations shared his experience of visiting Iraq in 2025, mentioning his meetings with representatives of the Assyrian Church of the East.
Attending the meeting was Archpriest Sergiy Zvonarev, DECR secretary for far abroad countries.
