Community of St. Sergius Cathedral in Johannesburg carries out Christmas charity event at local children’s home

On 18th December 2025, Archpriest Daniel Lugovoy, Dean of the South African churches of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa and Rector of the Cathedral of St. Sergius of Radonezh in Johannesburg, together with parishioners of St. Sergius Cathedral visited the New Jerusalem Children’s Home, where they organized a Christmas charity event.
The parishioners had prepared presents and treats for the children and staff of the social institution, Telegram channel of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa reports.
Father Daniel greeted all those present on the coming feasts – Christmas and New Year. In his speech, he encouraged everyone to give thanks to God for the past year and strive to bring the most important gift, which is purity of heart, to the Divine Infant Christ by cultivating kindness, love and mercy.
